Overview

 

The candidate will have 3 to 7 years of IT experience. The System Administrator position is an IT professional responsible for the installation/configuration, support, and routine maintenance of Cajun’s computer network. The position will join a small local IT team here in Baton Rouge, Louisiana in order to support a wide range of users and systems. If you are not in Louisiana, USA or willing to relocate (we CAN NOT sponsor international candidates) please do not apply. A college degree is REQUIRED.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist Cajun employees/users via phone and in person with various IT support items, including desktops, laptops, printers, smartphones, iPads
  • Support both custom and common user software, construction and engineering software experience is a plus
  • Ensure proper support documentation
  • Assist in managing both physical and virtual servers
  • Server software management
  • Basic IP networking
  • Manage Users in Active Directory, 365, and/or Azure
  • VMware experience a plus
  • Windows server maintenance
  • Stay abreast of new technologies
  • Room to learn and grow at Cajun

Name of position: Field System Administrator

General Description:

The ideal candidate will have 3 – 7 years’ experience in an IT systems, networking, and/or support role.

The selected candidates will provide technical support for computers and associated networks. Installs, troubleshoots, services, and repairs personal computers, network equipment such as servers, related PC software, telephones, cables, etc. Provides personal computer, hardware, and software support.

Requirements:

  1. A four-year Bachelor’s degree, preferably in ISDS, IT, Computer Science, Math, or a related field.
  2. 3-7 years’ experience in IT, primarily in support/systems/networking.
  3. Microsoft Windows experience.

Experience in these areas:

  1. Active Directory Management
  2. PC hardware and software troubleshooting
  3. Basic networking
  4. User support
  5. Printer installs
  6. Physical hardware installs
  7. Light database skills a plus
  8. Light scripting skills a plus

Job duties include:

  1. Basic and mid-level IT Support for a variety of software and hardware environments
  2. Answering support phone calls
  3. Physically installing computers
  4. Installing, updating, and monitoring servers
  5. Evaluating new systems to be rolled out to the company
  6. Working closely with a small team of IT professionals
  7. Occasional afterhours work
  8. Infrequent travel is possible

Description of IT at Cajun Industries:

Cajun is a medium sized construction company with a long history in Louisiana. Cajun’s IT team supports approximately 900 users, 2/3 of which are at or near the home office in Baton Rouge. Laptops, smartphones, printers, PCs, iPads, and various types of networks are involved. Various software and custom software is supported.
