Overview
The Associate Buyer is responsible for administrative and expediting functions of the Procurement team; including but
not limited to duties associated with RFQs/RFPs, RFIs, and purchase orders. The Associate Buyer will be able to execute
these responsibilities with support from Procurement Specialists and with oversight from the Procurement Manager.
The Associate Buyer will conduct business in accordance with Cajun Industries’ Best Practices and Code of Ethics and be
an active participant in the continuous development of the safety culture at Cajun.
Responsibilities
The following responsibilities are intended as general illustrations of the work in this job class; however, are not allinclusive
for this position:
• Prepares RFQ/RFP, RFI, and PO documents for upload into procurement software for execution and expediting
• Expedites RFQ/RFP packages, RFI transmittals, and purchase orders to ensure timely return of documents and
delivery of goods
• Identifies and reports any issues in the Procurement process (internal and/or external) to the responsible
Procurement team member
• Consults with internal stakeholders to better understand bid/project delivery requirements and dates
• Communicates bid/project delivery requirements and dates to vendors/suppliers to ensure adherence
• Maintains record of vendor quotes/proposals, and any attachments/supplemental documents, in the appropriate
estimating or job folder
• Creates new and maintains existing procurement logs, records, reports, and documents as directed
• Assists with the vendor management process by soliciting vendor company profile information and
maintaining/updating internal records as needed
• Gathers and complies relevant information regarding vendor performance for internal review used for bid/buy
decisions
• Obtains current market rates and maintains cost trends of primary goods as directed
• Coordinates and communicates Source Inspection timing and issues with appropriate personnel
• Attend and participate in meetings as assigned
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Experience
• Minimum of one year of work experience required with experience in expediting, procurement, or business
administration duties preferred
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
Education
• High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Construction Management, or related
field from an accredited college or university is preferred
