Overview
The Equipment Manager will oversee the acquisition, maintenance, and operation of all construction equipment and machinery. This role is essential to ensuring that all equipment is safe, functional, and available to support project timelines and productivity.
Responsibilities

- Manage the inventory, scheduling, and deployment of construction equipment across job sites and projects.
- Oversee equipment inspections, maintenance, and repairs to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
- Coordinate with project managers and site supervisors to forecast equipment needs.
- Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, maintenance history, and cost.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime.
- Ensure all equipment operators are properly trained and certified.
- Source and negotiate with vendors for equipment purchases, rentals and parts.
- Monitor fuel usage and implement cost-saving measures.
- Enforce safety standards and ensure compliance with OSHA and company policies.
- Manage equipment mobilization and demobilization between project locations.
- Evaluate equipment performance and recommend upgrades or replacements as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelors degree in construction management or related field preferred.
- 3 + years of experience in equipment management or heavy equipment maintenance in the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction equipment, including excavators, bulldozers, cranes, and loaders.
- Proficiency in equipment software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license; CDL and /or equipment operator certifications are a plus.
Physical
- Must be able to push/pull, lift, or carry up to 50 lbs., but may occasionally push/pull, lift, or carry up to 100 lbs.
- Subject to repetitive use of hands/arms, and legs
- Hand/eye coordination
- Must be able to communicate (hear, comprehend, and speak) to safely perform work
- Will need to be able to perform sedentary to heavy work
- May operate hand and power tools (electric, gas, and pneumatic) of all types
- Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
- Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
- Position may require prolonged bending/twisting, walking, crawling, kneeling, reaching overhead, squatting, pushing /pulling, or standing and lifting
- Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, loose/soft sand, etc.
- May be required to work in confined spaces
- Will be exposed to adverse weather conditions (Heat, Cold, Rain, Etc.)

- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management/ supervision and field workers
- Reading and writing comprehension is necessary for giving and receiving directions to perform work and/or safety policy
- Ability to use math/complete calculations
- Work at various tempos, and concentrate amid distractions

- Requires strong leadership and motivational skills
