Overview
The On-Site HR Coordinator will serve as the primary point of contact for HR and benefit-related questions and support the site’s new hire administrative needs. This role will receive regular coaching and oversight from Corporate Baton Rouge Human Resources team to stay consistent with company policy and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Intake/triage of issues — determine what can be handled directly (routine benefits, minor complaints, basic policy questions, LOA, attendance, etc.) and what should be escalated to Baton Rouge HR.
- Document and track employee complaints or concerns; escalate where needed to Baton Rouge HR (and site management, depending on the issue).
- Provide basic benefits and enrollment support, including heavy assistance during annual open enrollment.
- Answer general HR policy questions (attendance, PTO, leaves, etc.) and act as a liaison between site supervision and Baton Rouge HR on more complex matters.
- Support supervision with disciplinary documentation and serve as a witness when needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while building trust with the workforce.
- Assist with tracking new hires to confirm site requirements are met prior to arrival; verify per diem documentation; coordinate training needs.
- Communicate important HR and Benefit related messages to site employees.
- Assist Baton Rouge HR with compliance activities (labor law posters, E-Verify/I-9 audits, etc.).
Education / Training
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Relevant work experience may substitute for the degree.
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar certification a plus.
- Training or exposure to employee relations, benefits administration, and employment law.
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources or related field - construction, industrial, or field-based environment preferred.
- Experience with conflict resolution and handling employee relations intake/documentation.
- Experience handling inquiries on benefits, leave of absence, payroll, and attendance.
- Background supporting multilingual and diverse backgrounds a plus.
- Familiarity with onboarding and compliance documentation (I-9, E-Verify, labor law posters, training tracking).
Qualifications
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
- Working knowledge of HR policies and procedures, and general understanding of benefits programs.
- Strong work ethic, demonstrating a high level of maturity, professionalism, and a positive attitude.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and adaptable to changing situations and interactions on-site.
- Strong time management and problem-solving abilities, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Construction industry familiarity (per diem documentation, safety culture, industry challenges) is a strong plus.
- Confident supporting diverse employee needs across multiple functions and levels.
