Overview
The Finisher General Foreman is responsible for overseeing all aspects of concrete finishing operations on construction sites. The role involves supervising crews, managing resources, and liaising with project managers and subcontractors. Must be familiar with work assigned and ensure that all work meets or exceeds standards while maintaining accountability for the crew. Responsible for motivating assigned employees and supporting their immediate supervisor in any possible manner to effectively perform their duties. Must learn and understand all safety hazards related to the work and learn to safely and effectively use or operate work-related tools and equipment. Will be required to work in a plant operations or construction job site setting.
Responsibilities

- Supervise and coordinate activities of concrete construction crews
- Supervise and set direction for all Foreman and Leadmen on-site to ensure best use of company resources and adherence to all company policies and state and federal regulations
- Provide formal coaching feedback to Foreman
- Schedule equipment, materials, and tools to effectively utilize all resources and to maximize production and minimize costs after becoming familiar with the scope of work and site conditions
- Collaborate with Cement Finisher Superintendent on all scheduled activities
- Manage, coach, train, and implement standardized work plans
- Assist Cement Finisher Superintendent in process improvement efforts
- Read and interpret blueprints and construction plans
- Oversee the placement, leveling, smoothing, and finishing of concrete surfaces
- Plan and schedule work phases to align with overall project timelines
- Coordinate with other Foreman, subcontractors, and project managers
- Identify and mitigate potential hazards on the site
- Estimate and order materials needed for the finishing operations
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of finishing tools and equipment
- Schedule deliveries and manage inventory
- Maintain daily logs of crew activities, progress, and issues
- Mentor Foreman on the work discipline, such as production costs, scope of work, quality, and safety
- Maintain and update all crew and equipment matrixes
- Responsible for holding crew members and Foreman accountable for company and project rules
- Make sure that all SOPs and Best Practices are followed
- Must be familiar with mix designs and the curing process for concrete
- Responsible for conducting weekly/quarterly safety and quality audits
- Responsible for receiving permits to support the work being performed
Qualifications
- Highschool diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
- 5years of experience in concrete finishing, with 2plus years in a supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of concrete finishing techniques, tools, and materials
- Advance knowledge of the QC process as it pertains to check-out process
- Ability to read blueprints and construction documents
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Physical
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs., but may occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
- Hearing and comprehension is necessary for giving and receiving directions
- Will need to perform sedentary to heavy work
- Will operate office equipment of all types
- Climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
- Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
- Position may require prolonged bending/twisting, walking, reaching overhead, squatting, sitting or standing and lifting
- Must be able to manipulate and traverse uneven terrain, ladders, and multi-floor buildings with no elevator
- Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, muddy conditions, loose rock, loose/soft sand, etc.
- Will be exposed to adverse weather conditions (Heat, Cold, Rain, Etc.)
- Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
- Ability to drive cars/trucks as needed
Mental
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management/ supervision and field workers
- Talking, reading, and writing comprehension is necessary for giving and receiving directions to perform work and/or safety policy
- Ability to use math/complete calculations
- Work at various tempos, and concentrate amid distractions
- Decision-making skills are necessary
- Detail-oriented; must be able to remember, examine, and observe details
- Requires strong leadership and motivational skills
