    Overview

     

    Senior Piping Designer / Level 4 Designer

     

    Under minimal supervision, develops complex equipment and mechanical layout, satisfying all technical requirements on a project from the preliminary design stage through the detail design stage

    Monitors the designs of less experienced designers to ensure the quality of work, conformance to standards, and continuity of deliverable presentation

    Coordinates area design assignments with designers in adjacent design areas

    May be required to assist the Piping design team lead by functioning as an area lead

    Assist less experienced designers in producing Piping design deliverables through the use of 2D CAD software or extraction from a 3D model

    Check (or supervise the checking of) design and deliverables as prepared by other designers for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company and project specifications and standards

    Maintain project controls and records as required

    Assists in the training and development of Piping design personnel and evaluates the work of others

      

    Qualifications

     

    7 years of drafting experience with high school diploma or associates degree, or 5 years of drafting experience with a Bachelor’s degree

    Excellent oral and written communication skills

    Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    3D modeling skills (AutoCad Plant 3D, Navisworks, etc)

    Ability to read and understand P&IDs

    AutoCad Plant 3D (or equivalent) manipulation experience

    Laser Scan Software experience

     

    Physical

    • Occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds
    • Regularly required to talk or hear
    • Frequently required to walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms
    • Subject to repetitive use of hands/arms
    • Occasionally required to stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, use hands and fingers to handle and feel
    • Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
    • Will need to be able to perform sedentary work

     

    Mental

    • Must have the ability to direct others and communicate effectively with other management/ supervision
    • Talking and reading & writing comprehension is necessary for giving and receiving directions to perform work and/or safety policy
    • Ability to use math/complete calculations
    • Must be able to concentrate amid distractions and remember details
    • Ability to use computer, keyboard, telephone and other office devices
